The National Weather Service updated how they will describe winter weather warnings and events. Here's what Minnesotans need to know.

Here are four tips to keep in mind to help your vehicle start up in the extreme cold.

There's no way to sugar-coat this, the high on Monday is forecast to be -19˚ (and that's not including the wind chill). Low's Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday mornings are forecast to be -23˚, -30˚, and -25˚ respectively. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning for Saturday night through Tuesday night, with wind chills approaching -60˚.

Mother Nature's one-two punch has opened with a round of snow across the area, to be followed closely by the coldest temperatures so far this season. The snow can be expected to taper off tonight; before the mercury takes a nosedive, with temps falling into the single digits overnight -- and staying there all day tomorrow.

Earlier this week we took our first dip into the single digits. Cold weather is here. It's Fall and Winter in the land of 10,000 lakes; and we're going to be dealing with it for a while. So, instead of the usual complaining about our fate as Minnesotans, let's embrace it by each adding one thing that's good about cold weather.
