District 742

St. Cloud School District 742 have staff and students who have received awards recently. I talked with St. Cloud School Superintendent Laurie Putnam on WJON to talk about upcoming graduation plans and she highlighted some achievements from both staff and students.

At Wednesday's school board meeting, the St. Cloud Area School District will begin the process of determining next year’s budget.

A management reorganization at District 742 will lead to lower kindergarten class sizes.

District 742 is hosting a surplus equipment auction at the District Services Shop on Osseo Avenue at 9:00 am.

St. Cloud School District 742 has hired more than 50 new employees this summer in preparation for the new school year. That according to St. Cloud School Superintendent Laurie Putnam.

Dr. Laurie Putnam becomes the new Superintendent of District 742 on July 1st.

St. Cloud Schools is planning to continue with full in-person learning this fall. St. Cloud School Board Chair Shannon Haws joined me on WJON today. She says they will follow the guidance from the state and state health department in regards to COVID-19 and at this time full in-person learning is recommended.

Even with summer coming to an end there is lots to do throughout central Minnesota. After starting construction earlier this year, District 742's Quarryview Early Education Center has fallen a month behind schedule, however, the district is taking steps to ensure it opens on time.

By some estimates, there could be as many as 31 million open trade jobs in the United States by 2020.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and that couldn't be more true for students as they adjust to the new school year.
