Things started promisingly for the Twins, with Brian Dozier leading off the game with a solo home run and Eddie Rosario adding a two-run home run later in the top of the first inning.
Ervin Santana lasted just 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk. The Twins had just four hits in the loss and struck out 14 times.

When the New York Yankees shipped A.J. Burnett to Pittsburgh last week they actually paid the Pirates $18 million of the $31 million left on his contract so they would agree to take the underachieving pitcher off of their hands.

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is one of New York's most eligible bachelors since his split with Minka Kelly last spring, and he is taking full advantage of the single life. Jeter is even nice enough to send his overnight guests home with a parting gift.
