Iowa is the next stop for the Bennies, and excitement is building as they aim for NCAA glory!

Being a 3-year varsity starter is a great accomplishment for anyone but doing so as a 9th grader is incredible. Freshman Ava Knutson is one of the top pitchers for the Sauk Rapids-Rice softball team and has been a varsity starter since she was a 7th grader.

ROCORI lost 6-2 to St. Francis Wednesday in the Class 3-A State Softball Tournament Quarterfinals at Caswell Park in North Mankato. The Spartans went out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning but St. Francis responded with 2 runs 2nd inning, added 1 run in the 4th and 5th innings before scoring 2 more runs in the 7th inning.

Cathedral defeated defeated Class 2-A champion Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 2-1. Senior Ella Voit pitched the complete game, giving up 4 hits, 1 walk and had 7 strikeouts.

Softball: ROCORI 6, Sartell-St. Stephen 5 (Jessica Boos threw all 7 innings with 5 earned runs with 11 strikeouts for ROCORI.  Jordyn Illies went 2-4 including the game-winning RBI single.  For ROCORI Sam Sufka went 1-3 with 2 RBI, Jessia Boos went 2-4 with a run and 1 RBI, Sophia Hess went 1-4 a a run scored and 1 RBI and Mady Hesse walked 3 times and scored the game-winning run). Becker defeated ROCORI Thursday 6-5 in the Class 3-A State tournament consolation semifinals at Caswell Park in North Mankato.

Cathedral defeated Pillager 15-1 Wednesday to stay in the winners bracket in the Section 6-2-A baseball playoffs. Trevor Fleege pitched five strong innings for the complete game win, scattering four hits and giving up no earned runs.

Roughly 50 youth baseball and softball teams from across the state will be playing in Waite Park this weekend.

The St. Cloud Rox welcomed back fans to Joe Faber Field and earned their first win of the season, the Minnesota Lynx picked up a second straight win, the Twins got stomped by Kansas City, and post-season play continued for central Minnesota prep baseball and softball teams.
