Former St. Cloud Rox outfielder T.J. Friedl made his major league debut Saturday with the Cincinnati Reds. He came on as a pinch hitter and popped out against Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly. Friedl got his first major league hit on Sunday.
The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Waterloo Bucks 6-3 Tuesday night at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud to stamp their ticket to the Northwoods League Championship game Friday. St. Cloud scored 1 run in the 1st inning, 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 4th and an insurance run in the 7th inning.
The Rox completed a 2-game sweep of the Mankato Moon Dogs with a 9-2 win in Game 2 in St. Cloud Monday night. The Rox led 3-2 going into the 7th inning when they broke the game wide open with a 6-run 7th. Caleb Ricketts had a 1 hit, 2 RBIs and a run scored, Otto Kemp went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI, Brice Mathews had 2 RBIs and Jordan Barth had 2 hits and a run scored.
The Rox lost 11-10 Monday night in Eau Claire to the Express to end their 6-game winning streak. Eau Claire scored 2 runs in the 9th inning to walk off with the win over St. Cloud. Jordan Barth had 2 hits, a home run and 3 RBIs, and Easton Waterman made his Rox debut and had 3 hits including a solo homerun.
The St. Cloud Rox downed the Waterloo Bucks 8-2 Sunday afternoon to improve to 5-1 in the 2nd half of the season. Cody Kelly went 3-5 with a run scored and 2 RBIs, and Jordan Barth went 2-5 with 1 RBI for the Rox.
The St. Cloud Rox welcomed back fans to Joe Faber Field and earned their first win of the season, the Minnesota Lynx picked up a second straight win, the Twins got stomped by Kansas City, and post-season play continued for central Minnesota prep baseball and softball teams.
