It may sound absurd today, but there was actually a point when their career longevity seemed anything but guaranteed.

Several weeks after their surprising announcement as headliners at this year's Coachella Festival, Steely Dan have added a brief string of West Coast dates to their 2015 tour itinerary.

AC/DC will headline this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, performing April 10 and 17 at Indio, Calif.

Dennis Chambers, a touring drummer with Santana and Steely Dan, has been admitted to intensive care with an unspecified illness.

For a band who disliked touring in the old days, Steely Dan have certainly embraced since their mid-'90s reunion. The band recently announced a couple of upcoming dates, but have now put forth information on the entire tour. The 'Jamalot Ever After' tour will cover 53 dates in 47 cities, taking guitarist Walter Becker, vocalist/keyboardist Donald Fagen and band across the states and up into Canada

David Palmer, who sang lead for Steely Dan in the early days, is suing his old band. In a suit filed in Los Angeles on Friday (Feb. 28), Palmer claims that he is owed money as a result of royalties earned via satellite and streaming services.

It's the band's highest-selling album, but more importantly remains their most fully realized collection of songs.

They remain as dedicated as ever to working at their own determined pace, but Walter Becker and Donald Fagen -- otherwise known as Steely Dan -- sound like they might be getting ready to end their latest long gap between studio releases.

Expect to feel the effects of the Fab Four as they go their own way and land the solo careers, teen oriented pop fades and rock is more defined and flourishes.

Remember when Steely Dan rarely hit the road? Not anymore. After performing strictly as a studio band from 1975 through their initial breakup in 1980, the group led by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker is now set for its sixth tour since 2006.
