This could make coming back from your Thanksgiving travel destination a bit tricky.

Some areas could see up to 12 inches of snow during the travel days leading up to Thanksgiving.

From severe storms in the summer to massive snowstorms in the winter, we know a thing or two.

A storm is approaching the Upper Midwest, creating blizzard conditions in spots. Over 9 inches of snow and winds gusting up to 55 mph are possible.

The National Weather Service says severe impacts from heavy snow, freezing rain, and wind are now expected to occur from late Friday through Saturday.

Light snow will begin to spread across far southern Minnesota late this afternoon and into the evening. Heavy snow will develop later this evening, and into Friday, with blizzard conditions developing in the far south late tonight.

Winter came on in a big way Monday as much of Minnesota experienced heavy snowfall -- including over three inches in the St. Cloud area.
