Musicians, more so than anyone else, are infamous for leading lives of recklessness. In ways, you almost have to admire it. Better to go out with a bang than a whimper, right? But of course, in other ways it can be rather saddening to see such talented people with bright futures get overtaken by their dangerous lifestyles.

It’s a bleak reality but a reality none the less. Oddly enough, more musicians seem to kick the bucket at age 27 than any other age (hence the name "The 27 Club.") Today dear reader, we’re going to be taking a look at who has joined the 27 club so far (and keep our fingers crossed that it doesn’t let any other members in.) Here we go.

- Kurt Cobain

- Jimi Hendrix

- Amy Winehouse

- Janis Joplin

- Jim Morrison

- Robert Johnson

- Alan Wilson

- Brian Jones

- Kristen Plaff

- Linda Jones

- Peter Ham

- Dave Alexander

- Dickie Pride

- Gary Thain

- Chris Bell

- Chris Austin

Only one more year til I'm eligible to join the 27 club myself. Not that it would matter unless I magically became famous in the next twelve months, but hey, I can dream can't I? (Just kidding.) In all seriousness, it's a shame that so many talented people end up leaving the party pre-maturely. It would have been awesome to see what music they would have gone on to create. Hopefully the 27 club has stopped accepting members.
