Residents of the land of 10,000 lakes are no strangers to musical talent. Of course, the two big names that come to mind are Prince and Bob Dylan. It’s easy to understand why – they’re two of the most powerful forces in the history of recorded music.

Even though they’re the two obvious examples of Minnesotan based talent, there are many more artists that are up and coming that are worth checking out. If you’re looking for the opportunity to get a glimpse of your local talent, you should definitely check out the Milaca Homegrown Music Festival.

It’s taking place this Saturday (August 24th) at Recreation Park in Milaca. The entire event was organized by local singer Maddy Braun, who is also performing with the Maddy Braun Band in the penultimate slot at the festival. The line-up is as follows:

12 pm – 1 pm: The Cooper Kids

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: She’s My Sister

3 pm – 4 pm: Backstage Pass

4:30 pm – 6 pm: Dram Shop Country

6:30 pm – 8 pm: Maddy Braun Band

8:30 pm – 10 pm: Sailor Jerri

Tickets are available online now for $10 a ticket, and will also be available at the front gate the day of for $15. That’s the cheapest ticket for a festival you’ll probably find anywhere.

Not to mention you can catch yours truly playing drums with the Maddy Braun Band (yes, I’m shamelessly self promoting.) We’re playing an hour and a half of classic rock tunes, so if you’re a fan of The Loon, it’ll be right up your alley. Feel free to swing out and have a beer with me while enjoying some of our local talent.
