As a so-so bassist (I'm typically a guitarist), I know how much time and effort goes into becoming an acceptable musician – let alone one who makes a top 10 list. It’s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. There are A LOT of good bassists out there – and that means it’s gonna be a little difficult to narrow it down to a list of 10, but I’m gonna do my very best.

Although there are plenty of great musicians in other genres, the rock bassists have always been among my favorites, so that’s what we’re looking at today. In my personal opinion, here are the top 10 bassists in rock-n-roll (in no particular order.)

1. John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin

2. Geddy Lee - Rush

3. Victor Wooten - Nitro

4. Cliff Burton - Metallica

5. John Entwhistle - The Who

6. John Myung - Dream Theater

7. Billy Sheehan - Mr. Big

8. Flea - Red Hot Chili Peppers

9. Steve Harris - Iron Maiden

10. Michael Anthony - Van Halen
