The Top Eleven Things I’m Looking Forward To In Spring
Spring can't get here soon enough for me. Why? I'm not sure. January is the beginning of a new year, so you would think that's when I would want to plan a restart, but it's not. January until March is usually a time of hanging on; hunkering inside; trying to stay warm; and drinking cozy warm drinks like hot chocolate.
But come March, I start getting antsy. Now is the time for new beginnings. What are some things that I'm looking forward to in the Spring?
OPENING THE WINDOWS
I've already done this on occasion. I've been able to turn the furnace OFF and open up the windows to let fresh air in the house. There's something about that fresh air, that just makes you feel better.
SUNSHINE
I want sunshine in the morning and sunshine in the evening. Right now I've had enough darkness. It's time to step into the light!
GREEN
Winter in Minnesota becomes quite black, grey,y and white. Which is pretty for a time; but come spring, we start getting buds on the trees. The grass starts to peak out, along with colorful yellow flowers and Tulips.
FLOWERS
Which leads to more flowers! I'm looking forward to seeing flowers everywhere. Not just seeing them, but smelling them, cutting some, and putting them in a vase on my kitchen table; just so my kitten can try to touch them, knock them down,n and spill them all over. (Not really...but that's probably going to happen).

TEMPS
Spring temperatures are my favorite. If I could keep the temps between 62 and 68 all year long, I'd be a happy camper. It's just the right temperature where you don't need your winter boots, scarves, gloves, and warm winter jackets. Now it's 'grab a light jacket and go' weather.
WALKING
Some people walk outside all year long. I see them jogging when it's raining...jogging when it's snowing...jogging when it's sleeting. Hats off to those people who are dedicated enough to do it all. For me, it's time to get out on a walk where I don't have to bundle up, and I don't have to feel guilty leaving my little dog Gloria in the house because it's too cold. Now is the time of year to get outside and take a nice long walk with my pup.
GARDENING
Although I'm not the best gardener in the world, I do look forward to putting out some colorful flowers, filling up my Mom's fairy gardens, and displaying the rocks I've been painting all winter. I plant a few things like peppers and an occasional tomato plant.
I also look forward to my Dad's garden. He does an incredible job and it's always something to look forward to, to see what he's going to plant this year, including old favorites and often some new ideas.
CLEANING OUT MY GARAGE
Probably what I'm most excited about, is getting rid of all the things that I no longer need. I wouldn't say I'm a garage sale type of person typically, but this year, I'm thinking that might be a good idea. I've got all this great stuff that would be wonderful for someone else but isn't really for me or my kids anymore. I need to fill up my garage with other things! (NOT). I just need space...so goodbye stuff!
PLAYING MUSIC
I love to play music outdoors at some of our wonderful area breweries, wineries, and restaurants/bars. I'm sure if you get out for dinner somewhere, you will find me and possibly my nephew Brody playing music for you. It could be at Sunken Ship Brewery in Princeton; Molitor's Quarry in Sauk Rapids, Tommy's Too High Wines in Danbury, Wisconsin, or Boulder Creek Wine Bar in Santiago.
EXPLORING
We have so many fun things happening in Minnesota once spring rolls around; so there's no time to waste. I start filling up my calendar with outdoor events; like fundraising events for area organizations, and much more.
THE FARMER'S MARKET
Farmer's Markets start opening up in late spring, and it's always exciting to walk through and see what our local offerings are.
