Tom Decker Memorial Signs Offically Placed on Highway [AUDIO & PHOTOS]
COLD SPRING --Family, friends and officers gathered at Lions Park in Cold Spring today (Thursday), to officially dedicate a section of Highway 23 as the 'Tom Decker Memorial Highway.'
Two Memorial signs are placed along an 11 mile section of Highway 23, from Wakefield
Township to Richmond, to honor the fallen officer.
Rosella Decker is the mother of fallen officer Tom Decker. She says the stretch of highway was her son's last ride.
Plans for the memorial have been in the works since Decker's murder.
Cold Spring Mayor Doug Schmitz, says the memorial will honor Decker and the surrounding cities he protected.
The signs are brown with white lettering and were unanimously approved by the Cold Spring City Council.
Officer Eric Boucher, who worked with Decker, says the signs will help spread their motto -- never forgotten.
Funding for the two memorial signs was donated by Decker's parents, John and Rosella Decker. A way for them to say 'thank you.'
