ZIMMERMAN -- Two cows were shot as they were grazing on the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge and now the sheriff's office is looking for your help to find the person or persons responsible.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says deputies were called to the area near 293rd Avenue Northwest in Blue Hill Township, Tuesday to talk with a man who has cattle that graze on the refuge.

The man told deputies he had found a cow and calf shot on the refuge. Brott says the cows looked to have been dead for several days. He says the cow was found in a creek and the calf was found nearly 15 feet away from the cow.

Both the cow and the calf were about one quarter of a mile north of the Blue Hill Cemetary.

Brott says anyone with information on the incident should call the sheriff's department investigators, 763-765-3500.
