These are not the updates I live for. More alleged specifics (???) from that data breach that I wistfully wrote about last week have been released, and it sucks harder than the initial report.

SHIDD YER BRICHES AGGEN, BORTHERS, cuz hackers (allegedly) stole the Social Security Number for every citizen of the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

2.9 Billion Full Names, Addresses, and Social Security Numbers Exposed in Latest Breach

I am 100% serious: the internet experiment is a failure and we need to take it out behind the shed and SHOT TUAH Old Yeller that thang.

This latest data breach exposes full names, addresses, and social security numbers to jerkface dark web ghouls...and it wasn't revealed until a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT was filed. This hack appears to be centered on a public records data provider called National Public Data...which specializes in - get this - FRAUD PREVENTION. Big oof.

From Bloomberg: "To conduct its business, National Public Data scrapes the personally identifying information of billions of individuals from non-public sources—meaning plaintiffs didn’t knowingly provide their data to the company..."

"...from NON-PUBLIC SOURCES"?!

While we're launching The Internet into the sun (directly), let's also strap National Public Data to the dilapidated yeet rocket.

Ya know what? Gorilla glue me onto that rocket, too. I want off this planet.

What To Do When Data Breaches Happen

Keep a close eye on your bank and financial accounts, even review the past few months. Identity Theft Protection and/or Credit Monitoring services aren't free, but will help protect you...since idiots with way too much access to our information won't.

And that is - once again - today's Sign of the Apocalypse.
