A story first published by Rolling Stone and then later confirmed by the band has Van Halen scheduled to play their first show of the new year.

Reporters throughout New York City have been invited to Greenwich Village's Cafe Wha? this Thursday night to see David Lee Roth, Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang in action.

Details are sketchy but it's believed the band will do a 45 minute set, which may or may not contain new material from the band's upcoming album.

Cafe Wha? seats only about 250 but it was once owned and operated by Roth's uncle Manny.

Tour dates should be released later today (January 3rd) and tickets for the shows are scheduled to go on sale the 10th.
