Vikings Come Up Short In Detroit, Fall 16-14 To Lions
Off to a fast start, the Minnesota Vikings (6-8) looked poised to upset the playoff-bound Detroit Lions (10-4) this afternoon in the Motown before Minnesota rookie QB Teddy Bridgewater threw a quick pair of interceptions propelling the Lions to a 16-14 win, and the lead in the NFC North.
Bridgewater was 31 of 41 for 315 yards, with a touchdown and a pair of untimely interceptions. Matt Asiata led Minnesota's rushing with 11 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown. Vikings receiver Charles Johnson led the way with 5 catches for 70 yards.
Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh missed three field goals, including what would have been an unlikely 68-yarder as time expired. His second kick was blocked by the Lions.
Next Sunday the playoff eliminated Vikings face the Dolphins in Miami.
