Today is National Mint Chocolate Day.  I just take that and translate that into ice cream.  Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream has to be one of the best flavors.  Although, as odd as it is, I don't care for mint chocolate. If you are familiar with the Frango mints at Macy's - that's what I mean.  They are super popular, but I "no likey".  And I do feel like I'm alone on that island.

This brought me to check out favorite ice cream flavors across the country.  Some of the flavors that are favorites do seem to go along with the state.  Like in Hawaii it's UBE.  Yeah, I haven't heard of that either, but when you hear the description, it's very Hawaii.

Ube is a less common fruit in mainland US. Its subtly sweet flavor and intense purple color make it a popular choice in America's tropical state. Ube ice cream is perfect for Hawaiian beaches.

California's favorite ice cream flavor is Boba.  My first thought - of course it is.  Trendy.

Alaska has a favorite flavor that is also very Alaska.  It's Akutaq (no, I don't know how to pronounce that either).

Akutaq is a traditional cold dessert in Alaska. It's known for being a mixture of berries and whipped fat. Modernly, people will use whipped cream and a sprinkling of sugar. However you eat it, you're sure to feel transported to Alaska.

Georgia is not surprising with Peach flavored ice cream.  But then we get to Minnesota.  Supposedly the favorite ice cream in our state is Cookie Monster. I haven't heard of that.  But my thought was that it would be something like Monster Cookies??  Not exactly.  It's blue, like Cookie Monster from Sesame Street.  And it's flavored like marshmallows. Then you get bits of Oreo (love that) and cookie dough pieces.  Ok, you have me at that, but I still haven't heard of that flavor.  But ok.

Most of the other states, (you can see the results here) liked flavors that were something that their state is known for.  Louisiana is Praline, not a surprise, Kentucky likes Bourbon Vanilla, again not a surprise.

Overall, if you ask if people like the top three, Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry, that is the order that people will say that they like them.  Vanilla being the most popular, then chocolate and last strawberry.
