The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Noon Sunday through Noon Monday for portions of central Minnesota including Stearns, Benton, and Sherburne counties.

Several inches snow are expected from late Sunday into Monday. The heaviest totals are currently expected along and south of I-94. Dangerously cold air will then surge south behind the system, with the coldest temperatures expected in at least 5 years.

From the National Weather Service this morning: Accumulating snow is expected between Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon. Total accumulations of 5 to 9 inches appear possible with locally higher totals. The heaviest snow is expected to fall along and south of I-94. Blowing snow will also develop on Monday and further exacerbate travel.
