Yeah, you read that right.  I myself had to do a doubletake when I read the headline on Twitter.  How could there be a blood spill on the road? Where did that much blood come from? A

nd, do I really want to know?

Late last week, a 494 off ramp was shut down due to a massive blood spill. Where could enough blood to shut down the off ramp come from?  Seems it was all caused by a leaking tanker truck.

I had no idea there were tanker trucks full of blood cruising the hi-ways and bi-ways of Minnesota. But you learn something new every day whether you want to or not.

If you are a Vegan you may not want to read any further. Seems the tanker truck was transporting the huge amount of blood from a rendering plant. Evidently, the animal blood is used is making fertilizer.

I really never gave much thought to how and where the stuff discarded from rendering plants was disposed of or even used for something else.

The Bloomington Fire Department didn't offer a whole lot of info on where the "blood" tanker truck was headed.

I've been around for awhile but I don't remember ever hearing of a "massive" blood spill on a roadway. I think I probably could have gone the rest of my life not knowing that there were tanker trucks full of blood rolling around out there.

This is what they posted on their Twitter page.
