When Chi Chi's restaurant announced that they would be back after a 20 year hiatus, people were rejoicing.

Since their closure, you have still been able to get their products like chips, salsa, queso, and other condiments at the grocery store.  But they have not had a brick and mortar restaurant in 20 years.

We now know where at least 2 of the locations will be here in Minnesota.

From Bring Me the News:

Michael McDermott, the son of Chi-Chi's founder Marno McDermott, said the first Chi-Chi's restaurants will open in St. Louis Park and Maple Grove.

In both communities, McDermott plans to convert his Rojo Mexican Grill restaurants into Chi-Chi's.

That is really not a bad drive from St. Cloud.  On a good day, and depending where in Maple Grove, you can be door to door (once on 94) in about 40-45 minutes.  Not too bad.  If you are really craving Chi Chi's, or you just want to relive what you used to love at the restaurant, it's totally worth the drive.

The Maple Grove location will be opening second, after the location in St. Lous Park opens "sometime this Summer".  The Maple Grove locations is scheduled to open this coming Fall.  There was no specific date mentioned for either location.  A lot of variables go into this, so there will probably be a more specific date a bit closer to the rehab/conversion of the Rojo Mexican Grill and opening of the new Chi Chi's.

IS THE MENU GOING TO BE THE SAME

The plan is apparently to have a similar menu that people remember, so if you have a favorite, it will probably be available.  There will also be some new additions.

Looking forward to enjoying the new and reimagined Chi Chi's later this year!
