It was just last Friday that the 2020 Major League Baseball season started -- I should say -- 2020 'COVID' shortened, 60-game baseball season.

While it was nowhere near a full season, for many of us fans, 60 games were just fine. We were watching baseball again. In a year where we were looking for anything to distract and entertain us, baseball filled that void nicely. It made life seem 'normal' for a few hours.

Now there’s a chance it’s all going to come to an end before it barely got started.

A bunch of players, and a few coaches, from the Florida Marlins, tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. And they were playing the Philadelphia Phillies this past weekend. Which means that the Phillies team will be now be tested. Games for both groups were canceled for Monday.

Here's what the commissioner said about the possibility of canceling the season (CBSsports.com)

"If we have a team or two that's really decimated with a number of people who had the virus and can't play for any significant period of time, it could have a real impact on the competition and we'd have to think very, very hard about what we're doing." - Rob Manfred - MLB Comissioner

Players' health should be the number one concern for Major League Baseball. If this happens to more teams, I don’t see how they would even have a choice but to not shut it down. Then those moments of normal life would go with it.

Hopefully, this is a sporadic occurrence, and we look at it as a bad dream.
