Bar Name is an Issue in Northern Minnesota, but Not in St. Cloud
What would you do if you had a name of a restaurant/bar and then the city decided that it was not "ok" and you needed to change it?
The reason for the change also doesn't seem like a "good" reason, either. Check this situaltion out.
There is a bar/restaurant called Tequila Town that is located in Esko. Esko is a small town that is located about 15 miles West of Duluth. Apparently, there is some controversy regarding the name of the restaurant.

The town of Esko board said that the name of the restaurant promotes alcohol and that is not ok when it is so close to a school. In the town of Esko, since it is so small, anywhere would probably be "too close to a school". They also banned anything to do with "happy hour". This was for the same reason.
From FOX 21:
Mata has said the original name of the business was inspired by his hometown, Tequila, Mexico.
The owner of the bar/restaurant took out the "i" and the "a" out of the sign. It now reads "Tequi Town". People obviously still refer to it as "Tequila Town" but the sign no longer says that.
Keep in mind that here in St. Cloud we have a bar/restaurant with that exact same name and no one seems to have an issue with that. Although, St. Cloud is a lot bigger than Esko, and the school situation doesn't seem to be an issue. I think if the board knew what the origin of the name was, maybe they wouldn't have had an issue, but maybe not.
The restaurant in St. Cloud is located on 5th avenue. It's the former DB Searle's location.
This seems like something that happens when people have little to nothing to do. Just my opinion.
