Baxter’s World, My Favorite Cop of All Time
I got my first driver's license in 1969. Two weeks later I got my first speeding ticket. 55 mph in a 25 mph zone. One cop was pretty mean and the other very friendly. The next day the nice cop came into where I worked and apologized for giving me a ticket. He said it was all the other guys fault and if it had been up to him he would have let me go with a warning. This nice cop's name was Officer Wayne Olson. This wasn't the only encounter I had with Officer Olson. Several months after this incident, I was working at my job at a movie theater and after the last showing of the night, we cleaned up the theater and sat out in the alley behind the theater with the exit doors open. There were about five of us enjoying some wine and whatever, all of us underage. All of a sudden this cop car comes screaming down the alley and slams on the brakes. It was none other than Officer Olson. He rolled down his window and said "You kids better get out of here, the cops are coming". Then he drove off. So, Officer Olson has remained, uncontested, my favorite cop ever.
