Big Game Tonight, Weekend Showcase Ahead For Lumberjacks
The Granite City Lumberjacks have a big game ahead of them tonight at home, and then they skate into a late weekend 3-game showcase in Blaine against some of the best teams in the NA3HL. Here's a look at the next 4 games for the Granite City Lumberjacks, starting with that big home game tonight.
The Lumberjacks are taking on I-94 rival Alexandria tonight at the Miller Buick GMC Arena on the Benton County Fairgrounds. To add to what should already be a well-attended game, there is a giveaway associated with it. The first 100 fans will get a synch-sack bag. Doors for tonight's game open at 6:30, with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
Coming into tonight's game, the Lumberjacks are ahead in the West Division by 7 points and have an overall record of 18-5-1-1. Alexandria is in second place with an overall record of 15-8-1.
After tonight's game, the team heads down to Blaine and the National Sports Center's Super Rink for a 3 game showcase that features the Lumberjacks playing some of the league's best teams. Here's the Lumberjacks showcase schedule:
The showcase for the Lumberjacks starts on Sunday at 5:45 p.m. as they take on the Louisana Drillers, who are currently in first place in the NA3HL South Division and have an overall record of 23-0-2-1.
On Monday the 'Jacks are set to play the reigning NA3HL champions in the Helena Bighorns. Currently, the Bighorns are on a tear as the team has an overall record of 22-2 and is in first place in the Frontier Division.
The last game of the showcase sees the Lumberjacks facing another tough task as the team is facing the Wausau Cyclones. The Cyclones are in 2nd place in the Central Division, with an overall record of 15-4-2. The Central division does feature a former rival of the Lumberjacks, as the Rochester Grizzlies moved to the Central at the start of this season. The Grizzlies currently sit in 3rd place in the Central.
If the Lumberjacks can emerge from the long weekend better than .500 it was a good weekend, as there will be some very tough matchups, and playing 4 games in 5 days, anything can happen.
Do your part, pack the woodshed tonight, and start the weekend off right for the 'Jacks with a 'W'.
