The weather sure has been nice this week, so nice in fact I had to remind myself that our first snowfall came last year on Halloween which is a little more than a month away from now. But let’s enjoy the waning days of weather while we have them. 

The folks who like to ride their bikes around Central Minnesota certainly have enjoyed the weather because you don’t have to look hard at all to find someone pedaling their way around the area either for exercise, family time, or using their bike as their main means of transportation right now.

On that note, the website “Retrospec”, which is devoted to those who like to bike, skateboard, camp and exercise, compiled a list of the best cities around the United States for beginning bike riders. The creators of this study say they surveyed 1,000 cycling Americans and two Minnesota cities are near the top of the list. 

St. Paul came in second in these findings along with Minneapolis which finished fourth in the survey.

  • Availability of Bike Stores 
  •  What Makes People Want to Ride More 
  • What Makes Riders Feel Safe While Riding 
  • How Riders Respond to Aggressive Drivers 
  • Online Reviews 

Nationally, one-fifth of Americans ride their bikes more than five hours per week. And over 40% of cyclists say that riding their bikes is easier than using their vehicle.
