Sadly, it's getting really hard to track down "Cool Beans".  Those bomber bottles are pretty much spent around town.  At least where I've checked, so if you happen to spot one, please let me know!

It's this search that lead me to my most recent beer purchase, the Double Mocha Porter from Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon.  One thing that always draws me to this brand is the big bomber bottle offerings.  They're always brewing up something interesting for these.  I also love the fact that Rogue sources most, if not all, of their natural ingredients from their own farms.  It's a pretty impressive operation, one that I'm sure other breweries envy.

This porter has a beautiful, deep brown color.  At first sip, I was expecting to taste all the things I love about Third Street's "Cool Beans", but this beer has a very different taste.  The coffee comes through, but even more than that I taste the bitter of the chocolate.  I also get a slight hint of ... banana?  Call me crazy, but I taste banana.  Maybe it's a malt that gives off a similar flavor profile?

I'm not saying this beer sucks.  It's good, but it's not "Cool Beans".  I don't know what they did to get such a smooth buzzy beer, but man do I hope they bring it back again.  Please brew another batch Third Street Brewhouse!
