Nine tracks are on the 'The Cars' LP, and "Good Times Roll" was the only song for which no demo recording was ever found for the compilation of the 1999 The Cars: Deluxe Edition package.
Interestingly enough this song is not about the band Boston. Many people just figure it is because the way the lyrics are laid out being in the first person and they sing about being from Boston, which they are.
Originally part of Buster Meikle & The Day Breakers, Russ Ballard started his career in 1961. In 1972, he scored big as the singer for Argent, singing their hit "Hold Your Head Up" which went to #5 here and in the U.K.
Their first album that was self-titled, 'Steppenwolf' of 1968 produced a song that took off faster than the speed of light, "Born To Be Wild."
Tonight's 80's @8 Feature Video is a cover that did better than the original on the charts. Quiet Riot remade Slade's 1973 hit "Cum On Feel The Noize" in 1983. While Slade just barely cracked the Top 100, Quiet Riot made it all the way to number 5.
