Day #1 of Halfway Jam is in the books. Normally this means that today would be Friday, but the folks at Halfway Jam decided to throw a pre-party this year. A FREE pre-party!

Beer wasn't the only attraction at this year's Granite City on Tap. Here are five other things I really enjoyed.

Styx is doing two shows in Minnesota this week and lead singer Lawrence Gowan called in to tell us all about touring, the bus fire, multi-generational fans, pranking the members of the band and crew and one of my favorite subjects: hockey.

In addition to the myriad of food purveyors and family friendly events at Eastman Park by Lake George, the festival features musical acts each week.

The day was overcast and blustery, the night cool (cold, maybe?) and clear. As the moon rose just to the right of the stage, Tesla cranked out the best show yet of their three Halfway Jam appearances.

July 25th-27th, 8 tall masted ships, right out of Pirates of the Caribbean, will arrive in Port au Duluth. They're expecting at least a quarter million spectators to the event.

The sleepy little city of Little Falls comes alive this weekend with live music, a parade, fireworks and a water ski show.
