Minnesota’s Click It Or Ticket Campaign Sees Serious Results
A few weeks back, I wrote about the fact that the Minnesota Department of Public Safety was holding a weeklong “Click It or Ticket” campaign which encouraged motorists and their passengers to wear their seat belts.
Yesterday, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety released their numbers from that week’s focus, here are the results.
The effort was held between September 21st and 27th, and there were 254 law enforcement agencies involved in the crackdown effort across the state. And from the looks of the number of tickets handed out, it was a busy week.

The Department of Public Safety reports that nearly one thousand people in the state were given a ticket for either not wearing their seatbelt or not properly securing their children in their child's safety seats.
Around the state, 39 motorists in the St. Cloud area were ticketed during that week. 65 motorists around the Brainard area received tickets, in the Thief River District there were 48 drivers and motors that were citied, in the Virginia District 55 drivers got tickets, and in the Duluth area, 52 drivers found themselves in the on the hotseat.
The Department of Public Safety says that in Minnesota, not wearing a seatbelt is the top reason for deaths in automobile accidents, and that’s why initiatives like “Click It or Ticket” are so important to hold.
Motorists may have gotten a ticket which will impact their wallet, but that’s a small price to pay if it can reduce the number of motorists or passengers who are killed in accidents. The cost of getting a seatbelt ticket in Minnesota could set you back over $100.
