The Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 11-3 Sunday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium. The win gives the Royals a split of the four game series.

Bartolo Colon had by far his worst start since joining the Twins in July, allowing six runs on six hits while failing to strike out a batter. Kennys Vargas had a home run and a double to lead the Twins' offense.

The Twins fall to 74-69 on the season and are now just one game ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the wild card standings. Minnesota has Monday off before hosting the San Diego Padres at Target Field.
