There are some things that you can always count on.  Weather changes here in Minnesota, if you are in a hurry, you will hit every red light possible, and, of course, the hot dog combo at Costco is always $1.50.

Well, that last one could be changing.

Costco has had their infamous hot dog and soda combo for just $1.50 since the 80s.  Some people really count on that.  It's their quick lunch option.  Quick run in, grab the combo, only spend a buck fifty, and you are on your way.

For right now, the price is going to remain the same.  At least for now.  The thing that is changing is the soda option.  Costco will be switching to Coke instead of Pepsi.

From The Hill:

CEO Ron Vachris confirmed Costco “will be converting our food court fountain business back over to Coca-Cola” during the company’s shareholders meeting on Thursday, according to CNN. The switchover is expected to happen this summer.

As far as that price goes, this is why there is some question if that will remain the same or not.

The CEO said in 2022 that the hot dog and soda combo would stay at $1.50 “forever,” the tone changed early last year when Galanti told Bloomberg that the $1.50 combo deal’s price might only be “probably safe for a while” after his departure.

So if you loved the Pepsi with your hot dog combo, that will be changing, which is a little odd because one of the reasons that the change happened a few years ago from Coke to Pepsi was because they wanted to make sure the price would stay at the $1.50 mark.  So now, why this change which could have the potential to raise the price of that beloved combo?

Personally, I don't really care that much.  I don't really drink that much soda - almost none, really.  I have gotten that combo before and gave the soda to someone else.  But if you are passionate about your soda choices, this could be a bummer, or a great thing depending on what you prefer.
