If you have flown any airline lately you've noticed that there is a severe shortage of employees for most airline. Most all positions are short and it's affecting flights every day.

I've heard people talk of how the were on hold for hours just to cancel a flight or book some travel plans. Just in the month of June, American Airlines had to cancel hundreds of flights due to a shortage of employees.

By the time the lockdown and travel restrictions were lifted, people were more than ready to start traveling again.

Delta says business since the lockdown was lifted is going gangbusters but the shortage of employees is making it difficult to keep things running smoothly. According to FOX 9, Delta CEO, Ed Bastian posted a letter to Delta's website and said that Delta is looking to hire approximately 5000 workers to keep up with current travel demands.

"While we are pleased to welcome you back, the unexpected pace of the return of our customers has resulted in some unforeseen challenges as we ramp up to meet demand and handle a record-breaking level of calls," Bastian wrote. "We know you expect more from Delta and assure you that these challenges are temporary."

Thirteen hundred specialists will be hired on in the Reservations and Care team. This will help tremendously to ease the long wait times and other customer services.  Also, positions in sanitation, wheelchair staffing and catering will be filling positions.

Hopefully this will ease Delta's staffing shortage.  Currently Delta employs 75,000 people.

I wonder if they need someone to drive one of those golf carts around MSP?  I might be interested.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
