Eggs-pensive Easter? Not This Year!
Easter is headed our way FAST! with egg prices still higher than ever, not to mention the prices of general groceries, I thought I'd do a little digging in to find ways for you to save some money, and still find ways for you and your loved ones to enjoy Easter.
1 -INSTEAD OF REAL GO REUSABLE
So, I know that dying and decorating eggs for Easter is a family tradition for many. This year, you might want to do some different things. Perhaps you can find some plastic or wooden eggs to fill with treats. Usually, you can find great deals on this kind of stuff the day before the holiday. If you usually do Easter last minute anyway, maybe you can round up plastic eggs from years past, or make a last minute run to the store for some plastic eggs on discounted prices, and then fill them with stickers, little toys, jelly beans, or some other treat.

2 -EASTER BASKETS OR BOWLS?
My adult sons still live at home with me. Although I don't go all out and give them each an Easter basket anymore, I usually fill up a great big basket I bought years ago, and we have a family Easter Basket filled with treats. Some are baked, some are bought, and some are little gifts that each of them enjoys. What would you do for your family? Maybe use a mixing bowl for your basket? A plastic or glass bowl would work perfectly. Maybe small baskets made from filled coffee mugs?
3- MAKE IT A POTLUCK
My cousin Gina and her husband are always sharing their home with our family for Easter and many other holidays. Although they usually provide the main course, family members try to bring a dish, side, or dessert to help with the costs. Maybe you can speak with your family and find out what each person's specialty is? Save money and share your best dish at your family feast.
4- MAKING MEMORIES INSTEAD OF PURCHASES
Sometimes you just want to spoil your kids, right? Buy the biggest stuffed animal, have an easter egg hunt, decorating eggs. Instead of focusing on the purchases, you can easily make this a less expensive holiday. Find a community provided easter egg hunt, and make plans to watch a movie together, or if the weathers nice, maybe go to a park for the day.
5- SHOP LATER
As I mentioned earlier, Easter is one of those holidays where you CAN shop the day before since it is on a Sunday. Stores typically slash some prices a few days before the holiday. It's a great time to grab some candy and decor for some deeper discounts.
I hope these tips help you out this year. Don't let the price of eggs be the reason for the holiday! We can always be positive and thankful for our time together.
