This is the sweetest way to kick off the summer biking season in Central Minnesota. June 12th is the 22nd Annual Caramel Roll Ride on the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail.

The bike ride consists of six rest stops along the trail, and at each stop you can enjoy a delicious caramel roll. It has a "choose-you-own-adventure" vibe to the event as well because you can go your own route along the trail.

Riders can choose to ride in any direction.   West to Freeport (12 miles round trip(MRT)), East to Avon (12 MRT) and St Joseph (32 MRT).  North to Holdingford (20 MRT), Bowlus (34 MRT), Blanchard Dam (40 MRT) on Mississippi River and Highway 10 (46 MRT).

If you are looking for a Carmel Roll Ride t-shirt for this year, they will only be available the day of the event due to the difficulty of planning the event due to the ongoing pandemic. Event organizers remind people to come early and register if they are looking for shirts and other merchandise.

As far as the consumption of caramel rolls goes, you'll be breaking even on calories burnt vs. consumed:

Rest Stops located in each trail community will provide fruit, juice, water and CARAMEL ROLLS!!! Caramel Rolls are different at each rest stop.  They average 360 calories each and you burn about 360+ riding to each community!  So that means you can have one at each rest stop!

The official starting point is at 400 Railroad Ave, Albany MN, and check-in is held from 8 - 10 am on June 12th. The cost to do the ride is $25 if you pre-register by June 9th, or $30 the day of the event. (Or $17.50 if you buy your ticket through The Value Connection.)
