This week we check in with Dusty Minke who is just about hit to the water on Leech Lake.  If this is a lake you like to fish, and many do, Dusty has a few tips on what kind of bait to use.  Happy fishing anglers!

Dusty works as an outdoor / shooting sports sales representative at North Country Marketing. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Communications from Bemidji State University and worked for four years at Northland Fishing Tackle while attending college. Dusty has also worked for Gander Mountain, Bemidji in retail fishing sales, and he spent three summers doing one of his favorite jobs as a fishing guide on Lake of the Woods. Dusty is also passionate about the nonprofit organization Take a Kid Fishing, where Dusty has volunteered along with other fishing enthusiasts to lead a fishing day for disadvantaged and disabled youth. Dusty believes in the importance of such events for both the future of the community and the future of fishing.

Dusty’s proudest achievements include winning two 2006 FLW league tournaments — Mille Lacs and Cass Lake — and finishing 2nd in the 2006 FLW league Minnesota Angler of the Year competition. Dusty has been fishing in professional walleye tournaments for the past four years and guiding for the past seven. His career goal is to become one of the best walleye tournament fishermen of all time. We are proud to have Dusty on our Certified Elite Guide staff, and you can count on his recommendations to be the best in the field and on the lake.
