We all heard the news yesterday about the passing of game show icon, Alex Trebek.  He had hosted "Jeopardy" since  the 80s.  No one has hosted a show for that long.  Bob Barker came the closest as he hosted "The Price is Right" for 35 years, Trebek hosted "Jeopardy" for 36 years.

I remember being in High School and seeing Jeopardy on in the afternoon.  I've never felt so "stupid" as I have watching that show.  If I get a question correct, I always feel pretty good about myself.  Thinking of how in the world I could ever make it on the show. Like it would be a situation where I would be so far in the hole that I wouldn't even make it to Final Jeopardy.   That has happened a few times to contestants, but not that often.

There were some contestants that are from Minnesota that did make it onto the show.  They all say the same thing- he was so nice, and they were honored to meet him.

One of the contestants, Rob Worman won 6 games and lost on the 7th game and was asked back for the champions tournament that Jeopardy does occasionally.

Those special feature shows were about the only time I would  feel smart at all... like when they have the college championships.  That's when I could play along at home and actually know some of the answers... or the questions as the case may be.

If you would like to see some of the warm comments and memories that the contestants had to say about Trebek, you can check them out here.  How many times do you hear about people that much in the spotlight being that kind?  It's few and far between.   And to go out with that kind of memory left with the people you encountered, is quite a thing. I think that most people would  want to be remembered in that way.

Cheers to you, Alex!
