Minnesota Dept of Education Commissioner, Heather Mueller provided an update late last week and said school officials were hoping students would be able to return to class but the governor said the chance of students and teachers returning to class this school year are "slim".

So, with over 800 thousand students that are now learning at home, the outlook is bleak that they will be returning to the classroom. May 4th was the target date to get back to normalcy.

At last count, 11 states have decided to close their schools for the remainder of the school year.  Something that will probably happen in Minnesota also.

According to twincities.com Governor Walz stated about the extended closing " I think it's a relatively strong possibility that that will happen here, too".
