Hanging Around: Minnesotan In Bassmaster Angler Of The Year Standings
If you are into fishing, you are probably familiar with the professional fishing circuit. A Minnesotan is hanging around in the top 15 for the coveted Angler of the Year award, albeit still early in the season.
Elko-New Market resident Seth Feider is currently sitting in 15th place in the Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings. He will be competing this weekend in Anderson, South Carolina, at the 2025 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Lake Hartwell.
Feider has won the award previously, in 2021, as well as being a 2-time Bassmaster winner. Feider has built a legion of loyal fans who connect with his open, honest, and down-to-earth attitude, which we can all appreciate.
Feider, currently with 221 points, sits 49 points behind the leader, Will Davis Jr.
I caught the Bassmaster Elite series a few weeks ago on TV, Seth was hanging on to a top-10 spot, and the announcers were pretty upbeat on what he was doing on the water, so here's hoping he can land some big fish this weekend to help his point total and climb up in the standings.
Minnesotans Doing Well Professionally Fishing In '25
It's feeling like this might be the year of the Minnesotan out on the professional fishing circuit, as a Grand Rapids native won the 2025 Bassmaster Classic back in March!
Easton Fothergill, who was laid up in an Alabama hospital in 2023 to remove "an infected abscess from his brain" took home the top spot in the Bassmaster Classic, highlighting an impressive start to his young professional career. His win was historic, as basscast.com wrote he caught '15 bass for 76 pounds, 15 ounces. It was the biggest winning weight in the 55-year history of the tournament.'
Fothergill currently sits at 76 in the Bassmaster Angler of the Year rankings.

Since we are on the topic of award-winning fishing, there is still room on the Ballard's St. Cloud Walleye Connection, you can learn more about that trip here.
Seth and Easton, don't forget to set the hook!
