Let's see: outside of George Thorogood and Eddie Money, I've probably met Bret Michales more times than any other rocker.

I've also seen him both solo and with Poison on numerous occasions: Poison at the Minnesota State Fair and Target Center, Bret solo at Grand Casino, The Medina Entertainment Center and Myth in Maplewood.

I've also had the opportunity to interview him several times. As a guest, he's a giver: he takes the time to learn who you are, your name, your city and your station (he actually almost missed a flight once while on the phone with me because he stopped in the airport to take down all my info).

"Hey Kevin! Good to talk to you again!', he'd always begin. Impressive as I was most likely the 100th interview he'd done  any particular day. He never mails it in.

I won't sit here and go on about how fortunate he is to see this day given his recent health problems, I'll just say happy birthday, brother, and whether it's April 2nd at The Medina Entertainment Center or in June at Target Center as Poison rolls in with Motley Crue and The New York Dolls, I'll see ya there.
