Iron Maiden Kick Off 2012 North American Tour in Charlotte
Boasting show production and content that reportedly closely mirrors their ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’ tour, Iron Maiden kicked off their ‘Maiden England World Tour’ last night in Charlotte, N.C.
The group’s current North American tour is their most extensive in years, encompassing a total of 34 shows throughout the United States and Canada. The tour sees the group visiting American cities that the group has not played for a long time, including Buffalo, Salt Lake City, Atlanta and Indianapolis.
Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson says, “We have great fun playing the history of Maiden tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before!”
Iron Maiden continue to be one of heavy metal’s most consistent live draws, playing to more than two million fans during their 2008-2009 ‘Somewhere Back In Time’ World Tour.
Iron Maiden’s North American tour resumes in Atlanta, Ga. on Saturday night. Legendary shock-rocker Alice Cooper opens all Maiden dates between now and July 21, after which date Coheed and Cambria will be taking over.
