We have gone from absolutely frigid temperatures to 40 in just a few days.  Minnesota weather can be crazy.  This warm weather coincides with the time when you need to think about getting your ice house off the lake.

If you have an ice house below the line on the above map, you need to remove your fish house by the 3rd of March.  That is next Monday.  If you have a fish house above the line on the above map, in the green portion, you have until the 17th of March - which is also St. Patrick's Day.

After the removal dates, you can bring a shelter out on the ice (if there is still ice on the lake) but they must be removed daily.

...shelters may remain on the ice between midnight and one hour before sunrise only when occupied or attended. Storing or leaving shelters on a public access is prohibited

Time to bring on fishing in open water!  Well, not quite yet.  But we are getting very close to that time.  Now that the weather has gotten warmer, time just seems to fly by compared to when we were stuck in the frozen tundra.
