It's been 5 years since the death of Prince. Prince was an icon, a musical genius, and an amazing guitar player.  One that not everyone realized was as good as he was until you would see a perfomance and realize what a great player he was.

Prince had this habit of showing up for some cameo type performance, doing what he needed to do and bail out.  He generally didn't stick around any longer than he needed to. He showed up for the recording of Stevie Nick's "Stand Back", played the keyboard part and left.  She was left standing there- "Did that really just happen"?

This performance was from George Harrison's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.  Prince along with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and others performed "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".  Prince was simply amazing.

The concert that I thought was one of the best, if not the best show I've seen was in Minneapolis.  There was 3 dates, but originally there was only one. It was a Wednesday. And when that happened, I kind of figured that there would be more added.  And there were.  Thursday and Friday.  3 dates in a row.  I had tickets for each show, and got better tickets each time, sold the first two sets.  The last night is when I got to see Prince, in the round in the 8th row.  It was amazing. Each night, Prince had an invitation to everyone at the show to come over to Paisley Park for a more intimate performance and just to "hang out".  I didn't go to that, but I'm sure that was an experience too.  Now, I wish I had.

There was also that Super Bowl halftime show.  Again, I will say it is probably the best halftime show I have seen.  And, true to form, Prince showed up, played his guitar in the rain, without a lot of other things happening. Wasn't needed, and wow, awesome perfomance.

Prince was once asked in an interview why he chooses to continue to live in Minnesota.  He said that it's his home, and he can be who he wants to be here. And basically people leave him alone.

As we are now at the 5 year mark of Prince's death, we need to look at what a loss this is.  Iconic performer and personality that is definitely missed.
