Benton County Fair Needs Volunteers Before The Gates Open August 4th

SAUK RAPIDS (WJON News) -- The Benton County Fair in Sauk Rapids is just a few weeks away. If you haven't been in that neighborhood in a while, there's a big street construction project underway on 2nd Avenue.

Fair Board President Ted Prom says they've known all along that the project would still be going on during the week of the fair. He says they've offered shuttle buses for several years now, which might be the best way to get there this year, especially.

We always have our shuttle every year that comes from the Sauk Rapids VFW. We are also working very hard; we have another community member, trying to get a second shuttle so that we can get the people to and from the fairgrounds.

Prom says you should keep checking the Benton County Fair website and social media pages for updates on the potential second shuttle bus option.

Organizers are busy sprucing up the fairgrounds in advance of the Benton County Fair. Prom says they could use some volunteers to help with things like cleaning, painting, and preparing the buildings for the weeklong event.

Prom says they are also looking for more demonstrations for the Discovery Building.

If somebody has some type of demonstration, anything from sewing to quilting, to vegetable gardening, to woodworking. etc.

They'll have daily drone demonstrations this year in the Discovery Building. Prom says they've also moved the master gardeners and the beekeepers into that building.

The Benton County Fair runs from Tuesday, August 4th, through Sunday, August 9th.
