My man Kid’s keepin’ it real!

The more you look around, the more you realize this winter has sucked-ass for everyone.

Texas, California, east, west, north and apparently the south.

Kid and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band hit Little Rock, AK on Wednesday night. The area was getting hit by winter storm conditions that night and travelling was considered hazardous.

Admittedly, I’ve only seen Kid Rock in the summer under pristine conditions as for years his policy was to only tour on weekends and in the summer because he didn’t want to pull his son out of school (he told Larry King once that “we lose a little money that way, but it’s worth the peace of mind”).

I’d like to think that I would’ve gone to that show no matter what but I wasn’t there so I have no idea how bad conditions were.

But some ticket holders apparently thought it wasn’t worth the risk and stayed home. Kid went ahead with the show anyway.

Now those fans are criticizing him, calling him “greedy” on his web site, saying that he went on with the show purely to get paid while fans either risked their lives to get there or ate the cost of their tickets and stayed home.

If you know Kid Rock at all, you know how much he prides himself on being down to earth, keeping his shows affordable and giving back to his fans.

Greedy? This is the guy who refuses to put his catalog on itunes and probably spends more time overseas with the troops than he does at home.

Still fans in Little Rock are pissed.

Now so is Robert Ritchie.

From the web site: “It’s this simple — if you bought tickets to tonight’s show and can’t make it, YOU WILL BE GETTING A REFUND, STRAIGHT OUT OF MY POCKET. I’ve never ripped any of my fans off, EVER!!! I have also NEVER missed a show.

“You so-called fans on my website bitching and moaning and saying I’m greedy can GO F*** YOURSELVES, plain and simple. Throw out my CDs and lose my number. I don’t want drama kings and queens like y’all anywhere around myself, band, crew, family or my fans.”

I appreciate the honesty as I HATE “prepared statements” – those carefully worded, PC, seemingly innocent diatribes that all at once defend celebrities while at the same time giving the finger to fans and critics (my favorites: when the star gets busted for drugs, is sent to treatment and before you can say “junkie” comes the wordage so-and-so has found the admirable courage to confront this difficulty and asks that their privacy be respected at this time).

Puke.

But maybe if I was Kid’s “person”, I may have suggested that he of course defend his history but maybe add something about he can’t control the weather, is sorry you missed it cause it was a great show and we’ll be back to rock you in the summer.

Or maybe a plain old “FU” works just fine.

I pray I live to see the day that the politician/TV star/rock start/movie actor/famous for no reason person, gets nailed for drugs/sex scandal/arrest/DUI/being disrespectful to people, etc., and gets up in front of the cameras, shrugs and says “OKAY…ya got me!”.

Who am I kidding?

In some people’s defense, the winter storm dropped two feet of snow on parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma before Rock’s show, with three people dying in two separate highway crashes.

What are your thoughts? Should he have cancelled? Gone on?

Right now I’m just pissed at him because there’s no MN date currently scheduled on the tour.
