Apparently Lightning CAN Strike Twice – Hitting a Church in Minnesota
This cannot be good. When you hear about some strange thing happening, you may wonder why...why would that happen? And of course there is probably nothing to it other than bad luck. Still might make you think a bit.

LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE
The odds of being hit by lightning are not really that high. But it can, and does happen occasionally. But the odds of being hit by lightning TWICE??? Those odds have to be off the charts.
LETS CHECK THOSE ODDS
Do a quick Google search and this is what you will find:
The odds of being struck by lightning in a given year are quite low, around 1 in 1.3 million. However, the odds of being struck at some point during your lifetime (around 80 years) are higher, estimated to be about 1 in 15,300.
Let's go a bit further and find out what the odds are of being struck by lightning twice.
While it may be a popular saying that lightning never strikes the same place twice, it is a myth. Lightning can and does strike the same spot multiple times, and in fact, some locations are more likely to be struck repeatedly due to factors like height, topography, and conductivity.
Ok, so the odds of a person being struck twice are pretty low. But the odds of a structure being hit twice are a bit higher because of height, conductivity and other things mentioned above.
CHURCH STRUCK TWICE
You have to kind of think that this could be a bad omen. Or maybe that's just me being superstitious. The first time this church, St Helena's Church in Minneapolis, was hit was 10 years ago in 2015.
From FOX 9 NEWS
St. Helena's Catholic Church pastor Marcus Milless tells FOX 9 he was waking up Saturday morning at about 5 a.m. when he heard a "big, loud boom" outside his window. The church's roof had been hit by lightning.
This was from 10 years ago when the same thing happened.
...destroying the limestone cross that sat atop the church for 75 years. The force was so intense, the 3-foot high, several hundred pound cross came crashing down, taking out beautiful rooftop tile, granite steps and a nearby walking path as it fell to the ground.
Maybe it's a good time to change locations? Just a thought. Or, what do you think the odds are of being hit a THIRD time??? Anyway, glad no one was hurt and they can repair the damage... or look for a new location.
