The classic rock ensemble “The Band” is universally held to be one of the greatest musical acts – and collaborations – of its day.

This week at Pioneer Place on Fifth,  a collection of Central Minnesota’s top musicians are recreating the songs from the Martin Scorcese-directed concert film, “The Last Waltz,”

Much like The Band, Collective Unconscious has invited an extensive lineup of musical guests to participate; some are friends of the band, some are musical contemporaries.

Performances of “The Last Waltz” run tonight (Wednesday) through Saturday at the Pioneer Place beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door, but if you’d like to find out how to get them in advance, check out the Pioneer Place on Fifth’s website.

In the video below, Collective Unconscious bass player Jeff Engholm talks about the show and how CU and Friends routinely make a point of playing tributes to famous rock albums.
