It's always a pleasure to talk to Kate from Tri County Humane Society on Tuesday mornings. We never know what the featured adoptable pet will be until she calls in.

This morning, Kate explained to us that dog adoptions are off the charts. I think the pandemic has a lot of people looking for a dog to add to their families.

So, in lieu of the shortage of dogs, Kate thought it would be a good idea to feature a little mouse named Tire.  If you were hoping for a dog, you could always pretend Tire is the world's smallest dog. Name him Rover or something.

Anyway, meet Tire, Tire came to TCHS with his friend Tread due to being abandoned. Mice can often be skittish creatures at first so Tire is looking for a home that will give him the socialization and enrichment he needs.

Tire should be kept on a diet consisting of high quality mouse/rat pellets, and supplemented with treats of fruits, veggies, seeds etc. .Offering those special treats as a means to socialize him to being around people more is recommended. He would enjoy a cage set up with objects such as wheels, tunnels and ladders.

Social interaction with his new people is important as mice are social, intelligent creatures. Tire can't wait to meet his new pal!. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, micro-chipping, vaccinating, de-worming, any medical procedures and general care.
