Being a clown is a 'job' just like any other. There's many talented clowns in Minnesota, but they are having a hard time finding jobs lately and it's for this reason.

There's a new movie coming out just over a week from now called "It", and it's all about creepy clowns. It's all about a town where children start going missing, and a clown named Pennywise, who's been murdering for hundreds of years is the obvious suspect.

Sure, there's been other clown movies, but for some reason this one is causing the Minnesota clown unemployment rate to climb. Nobody wants to hire a clown, even a GOOD clown!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, they asked Pam Moody, who's the President of the World Clown Association (yes, there's such a thing!) She says:

It all started with the original "IT" movie. That introduced the concept of this character. It's a science-fiction character. It's not a clown and has nothing to do with pro clowning.

Yes, there is a difference between a Halloween costume and a real clown entertainer...those who make a living are "Pro Clowners"! She goes on to say:

People had school shows and library shows that were canceled. That’s very unfortunate. The very public we're trying to deliver positive and important messages to aren't getting them.

So how bad has the clown scare gotten? A female clown showed up early to a kid's birthday party, so she waited in her car. She looked up after a short while to find 4 police officers surrounding her.  A clown sighting was called in.

You may remember that there were creepy clown sightings across the country at college campuses and people were getting hurt. This was also attempted at St. Cloud State University almost a year ago. There were no injuries, but never-the-less, scared many students.

The movie will open on September 8th, 2017 at Marcus Parkwood Cinema in Waite Park. Be sure to listen as we'll be giving away tickets to see the movie next week.
