Minnesota Man Arrested After Walking Out of Ex’s Burning House

A Park Rapids, Minnesota man has been arrested after threatening his ex girlfriend with a knife and then torching her home.

Douglas Alan Young, 52, was arrested Tuesday after threatening his ex with a knife. According to his ex girlfriend he told her "I've been thinking about killing you all day".

His ex girlfriend managed to escape and call police. Authorities from Hubbard county responded to the call but Young refused to come out of the house, located north of Park Rapids. The woman told authorities that there were guns in the house and a standoff continued for several hours.

At 11:37 PM, flames were seen in a bedroom window and soon the entire house was engulfed in flames. Young then casually walked out the front door and was immediately arrested.

Young now faces six felony charges.
