MN Sheriff: Suspicious Man 'Hiding Shotgun' Playing Air Guitar

The policy of 'see something, say something' is a pretty good one if you were to ask my opinion. One resident of Stearns County recently called the Sheriff's Office to report a suspicious person walking along the road, who hid a 'shotgun' that they were carrying. It turns out the person who was walking down the road with a 'shotgun' was really out for a walk with a walking stick. When the reporting person drove by the walker was jamming out playing the air guitar, and got embarrassed and hid their invisible 'axe' from the caller.

Yesterday afternoon Deputy Jensen was sent to a call regarding a suspicious person on a rural township road. The suspect was an elderly male "carrying a shotgun" and when the complainant drove by the male tried to hide it. Deputy Jensen made contact with a male walking in the area matching the description who said he was just out for a walk listening to music while using his walking stick. When I told him the person who called thought he was trying to "hide his shotgun" the gentleman stated that he was actually playing air guitar and saw someone and got embarrassed, so he tried to quickly put his stick away.

This is a judgement free zone, I'm glad the person called about something suspicious, but I'm also glad that this guy who was playing the air guitar was SO into their routine they didn't notice an approaching vehicle until it was almost too late.
